Cocaine Charges in Fort Bend County

Charged with Possession or Distribution of Cocaine?

When you have been charged with a drug crime involving cocaine, you need the help of a criminal defense lawyer who has a great depth of knowledge of the Texas drug laws. At our firm,Rosen & Kovach, PLLC, we have dedicated our practice to helping my clients who are facing serious criminal charges, including cases related to cocaine possession, possession with intent, and distribution or trafficking. In the state of Texas, law enforcement zealously pursues drug crimes, and you will want experienced legal representation on your side immediately.

Cocaine is a schedule II drug. Included in this category are opium, morphine, oxycodone, amphetamine, methamphetamine, hallucinogens, and many others. These drugs are controlled substances considered to have a very high potential for abuse. Contact our firm, Rosen & Kovach, PLLC at once if you are accused of any cocaine crime.

What are the penalties for cocaine crimes in Fort Bend County?

Penalties for possession of cocaine range from up to 2 years in prison and fines up to $10,000 for less than 1 gram. As the amount increases, so do the penalties. At the upper end, being caught with 400 grams or more can mean 10-99 years in prison and up to $100,000 in fines.

There are many variances in punishment for cocaine crimes. If you are a first-time offender, there is the possibility of alternative sentencing, which could allow you to avoid a jail or prison sentence. This type of penalty involves going to drug court. If you qualify, you will be monitored weekly, undergo regular drug testing and drug treatment. These programs typically run from 1 year to 18 months. If you successfully complete it, your case will be dropped. This program can also be a requirement for probation.

Drug convictions are serious. In addition to sentencing and fines, you will be stuck with a permanent criminal record, which will have a serious negative impact long after you have been released. We fight hard for our clients. You may be entirely innocent of the charges, or you could be guilty of a cocaine crime. Whatever the situation is, we are on your side. My goal is to aggressively challenge your charges to reduce or dismiss the penalties, seek an acquittal, or to allow you to retain as much freedom as possible.

Contact my firm to discuss your case before it progresses further. My early involvement could make all the difference. As a Fort Bend County drug crime attorney, I know how to fight back!
